This is another one of my cowl neck hoodies and it is my favorite for the following three reasons:

This is one of my few skirts that is completely woven with no stretch. It's a light weight pinstriped material, good for suiting. I was experimenting with high rises when I made this skirt and while it looks good, it can be a bit constricting for one with a long torso. And of course, I had to put some slash pockets in.
This piece uses the same fabric from Fabric.com that I used for the convertible, reversible cardigan tunic. I prefer to tuck in my shirts (long torso) so I decided to use the rest of the fabric to make a reversible pullover. I used flat felled seams and rolled hems onto the striped side just like with the other piece.
I made this cardigan out of upcycled t-shirts. I have a stash of t-shirts that were going to be thrown out but I "rescued" them and have been using the shirts to create various pieces. Since t-shirt fabric can look a little casual, I opted for a button closure to make this cardigan more formal looking. And patch pockets are required, of course.
I love Halloween because of the costumes! I've made a variety of costumes over the years (various wizards, elves and other characters). This is my Star Trek uniform that I based more on the Zoe Saldana Uhura uniform rather than the Nichel Nichols uniform. I made it out of a pretty lightweight knit and used a nightgown pattern as the base. The sleeves are raglan and short instead of standard with long sleeves. Plus this fabric has a bit more texture which I noticed in the recent movies. |
